Description
Non Nobis Domine is a visual act of devotion and of letting go of the ego — a work that reflects on a sense of the sacred beyond the self. The canvas presents itself as a spiritual field, crossed by marks and tears, where the material becomes a silent prayer. The cracks open like wounds of time or ancient scripts, fragments of a liturgical chant scattered through the material.
The acrylic tones, severe in places and luminous in others, create a dramatic contrast between earthly density and the irruption of the divine. Gold — discreet yet unmistakable — emerges as an echo of grace, an unearned gift that falls on the canvas like sacred light. This is not glory on display, but a light that enfolds and transfigures, always turned upwards, never towards the self.
The title, taken from the Templar prayer “Non nobis Domine, non nobis, sed nomini tuo da gloriam”, offers the key to the work: this is not a celebration of the artist, but an act of offering — an abstract icon that renounces vanity to keep an echo of the eternal.
